The 3M (TM) Filament Reinforced Insulating Tape 45 has a glass filament reinforced polyester film backing and a high shear strength rubber adhesive. The Scotch (R) Glass Filament Reinforced Polyester Tape 45bk combines the good electrical properties of a polyester film with the high stability of a glass fabric tape. The 0.177 millimeter thick insulating tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 5,500 volts and, with a temperature resistance of up to 105 °C, belongs to insulating material class A. At the same time, the polyester tape is coated with a flame-retardant, extremely strong thermosetting silicone adhesive and therefore has a very high tensile strength. This makes it suitable for all types of bundling, fastenings and suspensions with high mechanical loads. Due to its extreme tear resistance, the adhesive tape is also suitable for short-circuit current-resistant bundling of medium-voltage cables.
